Just to let members know that both in Melbourne and Sydney there are many kosher establishements, retaurants, takeaway, and kosher food stores. Local importers do a good job supplying the community of almost all major branfds from the US and Israel [ and even a few from Europe].

I f ther eis interest, I can post further details.

For those visiting Sydney's North Shore, you are welcome to visit our website which lists all Synagogues and outlets/supermarkets that stock Kosher food/meat etc.

Our website is: www.ChabadHouse.org.au

Hi everyone,
Should you ever be visiting Sydney and wish to stay in the vibrant inner west, then Newtown is the community to visit. We are a short bus trip from Bondi and the eastern suburbs, we have a fantastic synagogue (from the early 1900's) and a vibrant community.

Sydney got her own back with the 2000 Games. And Sydney would have nodded knowingly in 1959 when On the Beach was being filmed in Melbourne and Ava Gardner reputedly remarked 'It's a story about the end of the world, and Melbourne sure is the right place to film it'. I think, however, that says more about Ava than Melbourne.
